and baby makes 4...well 5 if you count the cat

We are 13 days in with Braxton and let me just say.. Life aint never going to be the same again!!! OMG! WTF!! Seriously... I never realized that it would take THIS MUCH WORK! my 30 minute hair routine just bumped up to 56 minutes b/c I'm taking care of "mommy I needs" ever 3 minutes while trying to straiten my hair!!! I've even had to cut back on the eye shadow just to accomadate. And today... I got Peed on.. yep that's right... URINATION... free flowing stream right on me while changing the diaper... and Braxton just laughed his little butt off about it while I was scrambling!!! this is soooo not Prada... let me tell ya.

So far, big brother Micah has adjusted well...(Except for the fact that he wants to be babied too.. meaning he wants to be fed, carried, and played with like Braxton). Today I asked him if he wanted to wear a diaper... I asked Jeff too since he gets to keep sleeping and somehow I"m the one who is always up with the rug rats. Love it though!!! Can't wait to see what the new year has in store for the Whitaker house!!! And can't wait to take Braxton on his first shopping spree on Monday!!! WOOT WOOT

MOMMY...AGAIN!!!

The last week of October, Jeff traveled back to Ethiopia for our court date for Braxton. Sadly, we did not pass court on October 29th... our MOWA letter was missing. (Those of you who have adopted from ET know all about this...) the judge was very nice, explained to Jeff that she would hear the case again on November 4th and would let us know. Jeff got to spend some time with Braxton before rushing home to see Micah off on his first Halloween... On Thursday morning, at 9:23am we received word that our MOWA letter had arrived and Braxton's case PASSED COURT! WOOT WOOT! Braxton Powell Whitaker... coming to America (hopefully) by January 2011.

Micah's first Halloween!

Halloween was a big success... despite the fact that he could not actually "fly" in his Buzz Lightyear costume (and trust me he tried... thankfully I caught him before he made it off the top step) Micah had a blast! I even doned sneakers to take him Trick or Treating. Saying "Trick or Treat" to Micah meant "Hello can I come into your home and rummage through your candy bowl until I find what I want?" and that is exactly what he did. Thankfully our neighbors love him. After about 4 houses though, he was done and ready to go home and eat candy. Mommy, however, was really interested in snagging a few more Hershey Dark Chocolate bars and tried to convince him to enjoy the evening a bit longer. This resulted in a major meltdown and I ended up having to carry him for a few more homes (Thank God I did wear the sneakers!) My favorite memory of the night.... when we got home and got PJs on.. Micah came into my bedroom, crawled up on the bed with me and dumped out all of his candy. "Mommy I share with you o.k.?" How sweet! He hates chocolate so I had to help him out by getting rid of a few bits of it (Daddy took care of the rest. haha).

Before there was Micah...

In 2002 I brought home my fur child, Puss Wiggins. Actually her name started out as Sadie but when she and I moved in with Jeff, he for some reason, felt that Puss Wiggins was more fitting. Now Wiggins is well aware of mommy's love of high heels. She's had to avoid them on many nights when mommy is running around the house in her heels trying to get out the door on time. Wiggins has not been very amused with our new addition to the family. In the first few weeks, when Micah spent more time crying than anything else, she would often look at me in a manner that spoke, "What the hell have you done woman and when are you taking this creature back??"
Some days, Wiggins tried to seek out love from Micah... she is usually met with a "get" and a snap of the fingers. Wiggins, who is as neurotic or more so than me, is not happy sharing her space. She has spent almost 70% of her time in hiding since Micah came home and I have a feeling that once Braxton gets here.. I'll never see my kitty again.

Mommy ready??

As the blog title indicates.. I can tend to be a bit of a high maintenace mommy.... Micah began to learn this early on. As a matter of fact, some of his first English words were "mommy ready??" It took him a few weeks to understand that mommy does not get ready as quickly as he or daddy do. He liked it at first, thought it was cool to sit and watch mommy put on her make up or pick out her clothes but this soon became old... and he lets me know it now...some of the tactics that he has started trying to use.....

1)I'm putting on my make up and he comes into the room, "mommy pretty.. mommy no color face."

2)I'm trying to choose shoes, Micah says, "Mommy wear tennis shoes to run with Micah?" (Yeah I've tried a hundred times to tell him that mommy only runs on the treadmill but he keeps forgetting.)

3)He lays outside the bathroom or bedroom door and sings, stopping every 10 seconds to say, "mommy lets go" "mommy ready" "mommy go now?"

All the tactics usually end with Micah going to daddy crying because he is ready to go and mommy is "still getting ready"... daddy tells him to get used to it, he's been waiting on mommy for 7 years... =0)

the first day....

On March 28th, 2010, I anxiously awaited the "birth" or arrival of my 3 year old son from Ethiopia. My husband, being the most fabulous man that he is, went alone to Ethiopia to pick up Micah Abdi and bring him home. So there I was... waiting... and yes, I had on my stilettos... I gave no thought to the fact that I might end up chasing this little boy all over the Northern KY/ Cincinnatti airport.. I thought he would be this sweet, docile little boy who did exactly as he was told (despite the fact that he spoke 2 languages and neither one being English)... Boy was I wrong!! Let me just say... my Jaya's did not last the 4 hours we were at the airport...(ok the shoes made it, I however did not!)
